Portrait of a Mother

Maria Kuznetsova was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, and moved to the United States as a child. She is the author of the novels Something Unbelievable (2021) and Oksana, Behave! (2019), both published by Random House. Her fiction appears or is forthcoming in One Story, The Yale Review, Guernica, The Southern Review, Threepenny Review, and The Sun, among others. She is an associate professor of creative writing at Auburn University and fiction editor of Southern Humanities Review.
