REEB

NPR promos its show “White Lies,”

the story of 38-year-old Rev. James Reeb, Unitarian

Universalist preacher,

beaten to death after dinner

in an integrated restaurant in Selma, 55 years ago.

Reeb’d traveled to Selma after the beating and shooting murder

of 26-year-old Jimmie Lee Jackson—the youngest deacon in his, Jimmie’s, church—

a month earlier.

Reeb’s death garnered more attention from the movement, the press, and LBJ

than ever Jimmie Lee’s.
