Coleman Barks is most well-known for his Rumi translations, especially the bestselling Essential Rumi (1995). He has also published eight books of his own poems, most recently, Hummingbird Sleep, Poems 2009–2011 (UGA Press, 2013). He is a retired professor emeritus of English at the University of Georgia in Athens.
